200 Years of Chinese Education in Malaysia: A Protean Saga by Kua Kia Soong is the latest and fifth edition of his 1985 title. It was and still is, the first full-length book on the history and politics surrounding the chinese-medium schools in Malaysia. It has been in constant demand because of the interest in this unique community-run mother tongue education system.
With more than 1,280 primary schools, 60 Independent secondary schools and three tertiary-level colleges, the Malaysian Chinese education system has few comparisons in the world. THeir school-leaving Unified Examination Certificate is today recognized all over the world except in Malaysia.
