HEALING HAIKU & SENRYU : POETIC ECHOES TO SOOTHE HEARTS
Publisher: Dr. Lim Keng Huat
Pages: 147pg
Healing Haiku And Senryu: Poetic Echoes to Soothe Hearts is the third poetry book by a medical graduate from Australia, with a Master in English at Open University in Malaysia. It is a collection of haiku and senryu over three years. Over this period, he has gone through three operations and one almost threatened his life. The diagnosis of metabolic syndrome, with suspected liver cancer lingers on. During this period, he finds reading and writing haiku and other forms of poetry is a kind of self-therapy, a healing balm that he wishes to share with his readers.
Inspired by other poets in Malaysia and the world, he publishes this book to encourage other poets and authors in the country to look beyond the mundane perception of market value. The standard of Malaysian literature in English is falling. There are hardly any poetry books (in English) available in our local bookstores. We must dare to challenge the predestined trend, and change our reading habits and the perception of value.
The poet offers his gift of poetry to his daughter and grandchildren. He turns to the universal message of love and kindness in poetry to all. He invites you to share his thoughts and sentiments. He invites you to visit and interact with him online at his blog: www.wonkywizard.wordpress.com
