When I Say Spoken You Say Word : KL Spoken Word Anthology
'When I Say Spoken You Say Word’ is an anthology of spoken word poetry comprising of more than 100 poems by 61 poets based in and around Kuala Lumpur.
Three and a half years ago, a little poetry event called If Walls Could Talk kicked off its first show in a dimly-lit Gaslight Cafe. Since then, this show has grown to Kuala Lumpur’s longest-running spoken word poetry event, serving as the stomping ground for new and established poets alike. Hundreds of poets have passed through its humble stage, coming from as near as Kuala Lumpur to as far as Australia and Canada.
For the first time, these poems are being archived and published in an anthology aptly named ‘When I Say Spoken You Say Word’. Inside this book, you’ll find more than 100 poems spanning three and a half years of If Walls Could Talk, compiled and edited by Tshiung Han See and Lily Jamaludin.
With poets such as Dhinesha Karthigesu, Dhabitah Zainal, Jamal Raslan, Enbah Nilah and Nana, this comprehensive anthology is Walls’ final love letter before closing its’ doors after 55 shows.
